Spent the day in the French Riveria. My only knowledge of this place prior to coming was watching "Joe Millionaire." Towards the end of the season they head down to the South of France and do everything a reality tv show producer wishes trashy people would do on TV. Regardless, I remember seeing the beaches and thinking "I MUST GO THERE SOMEDAY." It's just a beautiful place, wonderful sun, clear blue waters...I can't complain. Tried the Nicoise salad (the birthplace of this famous dish)and was satisfied. I wish I could have stayed longer gone to Cannes, and maybe Monaco, but I guess that's for another time.
I just started reading "The Sun Also Rises," finally tackling Hemingway since the 8th grade. It's about a bunch of expats in France after WWI. Kind of appropriate I suppose, every mention of streets and cafes makes me nostalgic for Paris.
Visited Amsterdam briefly...more to come on that...I need to remember what exactly happened.
Also, I realize this post makes me sound like a francophile. I'm really trying to avoid having that label placed on me (that and being called a foodie). So let's just say being anywhere but at my crappy desk job is considered paradise.
